Wood - frame House
Inspection Experimental Program
- Training
of KWBDA seeking to
apply for inspector qualifications. -
Administering examination
is only for KWBDA member who have
been trained and educated at the
Wood Building
Design Center. - Inspection
for any wood frame house is not
necessary, only if requested by
the home owner or builder. -
Development and publishing
of a production checklist manual
for builders and by the Korea Wood
Building Design
Association. - In future,
the development of a training program
with the MOCT for local regional
officers who would be
accountable and responsible for
inspections.
To ensure the
quality of light -weight wood frame
housing, a third party inspection
system which is operated by government,
government agents, associations
or institutes should be put in place.
The same is true even for
single family houses that do not
require a building permit or inspection
for housing under the 60 pyung (200㎡)
in suburban areas. On-site
inspection may be easily performed
and can result in better quality
wood frame construction in Korea

The Healthy Home
Design Center
Training programs for Wood Building
Design Center The WBDC has rapidly become Korea's premier wood
building design career training institute. Our focus on education, as
well as our networks within the industry, has resulted in programs that are
technically sound, relevant and up-to-date with current market and industry
demands.
Rapid advances in technology have increased
public expectations with respect to living standards and wood-frame building
construction in Korea. Wood-frame
buildings are expected to be designed and constructed in accordance with
rigorous standards of workmanship and safety while at the same time
incorporating all the features that contribute to speedy construction, financial
efficiency and user satisfaction. High public expectations and the
dynamic nature of the industry present both a challenge and an opportunity:
attractive criteria for any career. Upon graduation from our program, WBDC
graduates are truly job ready to meet the demands of the industry and the
evolving Korean market.
■
Training and Education In addition, in order for wood
frame housing to become more accepted and competitive in the Korean
market, it is essential that Korean consumers and builders become more
aware of the technical benefits, requirements, and costs associated with
wood frame housing. To this end, the Wood
Building
Design Center (WBDC) and Korea
Wood Building Design Association(KWBDA) has been established in 1997 and
has graduated more than 1450 students as of the
end of 2003. WBDC and KWBDA offers a full range of
learning opportunities in part-time studies through six
